Direct Drilling
Direct drilling is an effective method of establishing a crop without the need for any prior cultivations, although it is recommended to asses the soil for compaction issues that should be addressed before drilling.
We are able to direct drill; cereals, grass, clover, cereals, forage crops such as rape, kale and swedes as well as cover crops to build soil fertility or improve structure.
Direct drilling accurately places the seed at the required depth, without disturbing or inverting the soil, therefore retaining fertility and moisture where it is required.
The serrated discs of the Vaderstad Rapid cut into the soil and create a tilth within the slot and are followed by a roller to optimise seed to soil contact.
The added bonus of the Vaderstad Rapid is that it also has cultivation discs in front of the drilling discs to create a tilth under minimal tillage tillage conditions such as partially cultivated ground.
Low Disturbance Subsoiling
The Sumo GLS is an extremely effective tool for alleviating soil compaction with minimal surface disturbance and can also improve drainage and aeration on both grassland and worked ground.
Good soil structure is key to crop performance and yield and can lengthen the grass grazing season.
Low disturbance subsoiling and direct drilling go hand in hand together in improving soil structure and improving profitability.
We always make a compaction assessment by digging a small soil pit to determine exactly how deep any compaction is, in order to make the correct adjustment to the working depth of the machine to ensure optimum shattering of the soil and maintaining fuel efficiency.
The Sumo Trio is the UK's leading one pass combination cultivator.
Subsoiler legs with high or low disturbance points lift compaction and are followed by two rows of discs that mix soil, trash and manure. Finally the packer roller consolidates the cultivated soil, often ready to be drilled straight after.
The Sumo trio is primarily a one pass stubble cultivator but is versatile enough to work as part of a minimum tillage system for grassland reseeding and can be classed as a regenerative cultivation method.
This machine fits in particularly well with the Vaderstad Rapid drill as a cost effective way to establish cereal crops.
Cambridge Rolling with Leveller and Seeder Unit
Introduced in 2022, the Dalbo Roller and Einbock seeder unit have fitted in as an excellent replacement for the Einbock harrow seeder and has proved to be a much more effective method of establishing grass.
The roller and shatter board set up works as an effective cultivation and levelling pass, following either the Sumo Trio or for pulling down ploughed ground.
The addition of the Einbock seed unit allows for the roller to be used as a drill for broadcasting and rolling the seedbed in a single pass. Suitable for grass and small seeds.

Hedge Cutting
Hedge cutting using the high output McConnel TwinCut.
The TwinCut head has a higher output than a conventional single rotor machine, whilst retaining a clean cutting finish.
In annual growth output can be increased by around 1.5 times and in 2 years plus growth output can be doubled.
Fewer passes means less compaction and less fuel used and reduced overall cost.
